PARK AFTER DARK

Tohono Chul Park holds its annual, Park After Dark event each October. This past year (2009) Tohono Chul Park celebrated the folklore and artistry of the Day of the Dead – El Día de los Muertos.

Audiences tapped their toes to the rhythmic beats of the Dambe Drummers and the fiery synergy of Flam Chen. Zarco Guerrero, renown mask maker and performer, celebrated this ancient holiday with his exotic masked characters and his unique and often hilarious style of story telling. Visitors wandered the luminaria-lit trails in search of ghost stories and live nocturnal animals. The event was in conjunction with the Day of the Dead exhibition and visitors left altar offerings that evening to their dearly departed.
