This garden adjoins the original Santa Fe style house built in 1937. The Spanish Colonial Garden, designed to reflect the garden traditions of early settlers, contains mature Desert Ironwood trees and shaded benches where you can rest. The large, slow-growing Ironwoods you see in the garden are very important to the Seri Indians of Mexico. The wood of this tree is so dense that it does not float. The Seri use this dark, heavy wood for the unique carvings treasured by many tourists.
