For the Birds
May 25 – August 20, 2006

Birds capture the imagination. They inspire mankind with their lyrical song, skills of sight and sound, and colorful feathers.

This exhibit features artwork by 26 Arizona artists, whose interpretations of birds are translated in many types of media. The artists use a range of styles and approaches to capture the physical, emotional, and imaginative appeal of birds.

Works featured include Farraday Newsome’s terra cotta forms in lush color glazes. Art by Jane Kelsey-Mapel draws on themes of family, friendship, and personal growth through narrative clay sculptures.  Other works include paintings, ceramic sculpture, and non-traditional techniques such as reverse glass painting. Judith Nylin cut and wove together two watercolor paintings for her art, creating the effect of movement. Come see this fabulous exhibit!
