| Wild at Heart: Roadside Wildflowers Thursday, March 27, 8am-5pm |
|||
The word is . . . there will be flowers in the desert! Join us for an odyssey through the northern reaches of the Arizona Uplands looking for the colors of spring – from the gold of Mexican poppies to the blues of lupine and all the many hues of globemallow in between. If we’re lucky, there will be mariposa lily too! We take our time travelling the scenic Oracle highway to Apache Junction and the first leg of the Apache Trail stopping for photo ops along the way. Lunch is at the picturesque restaurant in Tortilla Flat in the shadow of the Superstition Mountains. Following lunch, we search for more flowers along the road to Superior before heading south again back to Tucson. Our experts in wildflower identification include Curator of Plants Russ Buhrow and guest commentator, Lynn Hassler. Cost of the trip includes transportation, lunch, road snacks and a copy of the Tucson Citizens’ Southern Arizona Wildflower Guide. $69 FILLED
