Re-Visions: Art Made from Reclaimed Materials

May 26 – Aug. 28, 2005

Exhibit Hall

They say one person’s junk is another one’s treasure. Nowhere is this truer than in our summer exhibit! Re-Visions is the Park’s third foray into the exciting, sometimes wacky, sometimes poetic, and always clever world of art made from reclaimed materials. An apt title, “re-vision” refers to the process artists go through to create this type of work because, in the act of creating art work from discarded items, they truly are “re-seeing” the objects in entirely new contexts from their original functions.

Re-Visions will include kaleidoscopic collage works made from thousands of produce stickers, assemblage pieces constructed from reclaimed bits and pieces of manufactured objects, and scrap metal and old bike and car parts transformed into yard sculptures. Our exhibit also will feature mosaics, unique books, basketry and funky furniture assembled from a variety of found objects.
