| Earth, Air, Fire, Water January 17 to March 9, 2008 in the Exhibit Hall |

Through artists’ eyes, the exhibit takes a closer look at the four elements and the powerful forces that impact the planet, and specifically the Southwest region. Artworks are inspired by the elements in action: the ripples in sand dunes, mesmerizing dust devils, brooding clouds and monsoon sheets of rain, reflections in a quiet pool, rocks etched from years of erosion, a fiery sunset, electric lightning bolts, and the rage of wildfires. Some work is more abstract, interpreting elemental forces through shapes and symbols and using the material substances of the earth itself to reflect the theme. Paintings, photographs, works in clay, fiber, metals, mixed media, and other media approaches are presented. Read the Gallery Notes (Word Document) |
